SWANSON, RUTH J. Ruth J. Swanson, age 92 of Waco died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at a local nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Friday, March 5 at Clifton Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Daniel Brandt officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6-7pm Thursday, March 4 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Mrs. Swanson was born September 6, 1911 to Alfred Rogstad and Anna Johnson in Cransfills Gap, Texas. She graduated from Waco High School and Toby’s Business College. She married John G. Swanson July 20, 1946. Mrs. Swanson was a secretary at V.A. Regional Hospital in Waco, retiring in 1973. She was a member of the Huaco Chapter of ABWA. She was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was a member of the choir, taught Sunday school class a number of years, member of Alter guild and was active in the women’s organizations. Mrs. Swanson was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include her cousins, Edward Peterson, Pernell Peterson, Gladys Fassett and Imogene Bushnell of Waco, Edward Bryn of Clifton, Mary Johnson of Georgewest, Ima Broyles of Amarillo, Ruhl Solberg of San Antonio and Virgie Lynch of Chicago, Illinois. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church.
