Ruth Marie Cook 1922 – 2007 Ruth Marie Taylor Cook passed away Monday, May 28, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 8th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey in Waco, Texas with Pastor Stephen Jackson of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Ruth was born February 2, 1922 in Waelder, Texas to Robert Wiley Taylor and Orlean Dennis Taylor. She was a member of the Baptist faith, a homemaker and worked with her husband in his optometry practice in Flatonia, Texas. Ruth is a Past Matron of Flatonia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a 50 year member. She was also an avid bridge player and a master artist of oil painting. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jennings Bryan Cook, Jr.; two infant children, Clinton Allen Cook and a daughter; her sister, Evelyn Taylor Boswank; and three brothers, Delmer Taylor, Everett Taylor, and Odom Taylor. Ruth is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years Dr. Jennings Bryan Cook of Waco, Texas. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Mildred Keilers Cook of Dickinson, Texas; four granddaughters, Barsa Harclerode and husband, Marty, of Friendswood, Texas, Carmen Cook of Spring, Texas, Kendra Cook and Cheryl Howard of Houston, Texas, and Dawn Harvey and husband, Ben, of Spring, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Bryan Allen Harclerode, McKenna Christine Harclerode, Katherine Elizabeth Harclerode, Jerry Bryan JB Harvey, Alexandra Ruth Harvey, Keiler Dain Harvey, and Keegan Lynn Cook; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be her nephews: Stuart Boswank, Dale Cook, Ken Cook, Pat Cook, Ronnie Cook, Ron Smith, Jack Terrell, grandsons-in-law: Marty Harclerode and Ben Harvey, and grandnephew: Donnie Eckhardt.
