Ruth W. Dugger January 26, 1908 - September 5, 2012 Ruth W. Dugger of Waco passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Wesley Woods Alzheimer's Care Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Art Torpy and Rev. Chris Mesa officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Ruth was born January 26, 1908, in Ennis, Texas, to James and Ruth Weatherford, the youngest of five children. They moved to Houston until forced to flee the 1915 storm and her family resided in Houston until the Height Blvd home was sold in 1940. She was married to Robert E. Waltrip from 1926 until 1931. In 1933 she married William H. Thomas and moved to Waco and lived in their original home until her death. Bill Thomas died on May 8, 1934 and their child, Billie Ruth was born in November. She then married John B. Dugger in 1936 and their only child, John Wesley Dugger was born in 1944. Ruth was a member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church for 76 years where she was active in the Hartsfield Class until health issues prevented her attendance. She was active in many organizations and was a world traveler. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.B. and her son, John; and siblings, Else Myrl, Hugh Lawrence, James Red Weatherford and Helen Carr, and all of their children. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Thompson; sister-in-law, Wilma Thomas Schwarting; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great-vieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Austin Avenue United Methodist Church, Waco Methodist Children's Home or charity of your choice.
