S. Jeff Bloomfield

March 31, 1916 — February 25, 2002

BLOOMFIELD, S. JEFF S. Jeff Bloomfield, age 85, of Waco died Monday, February 25, 2002 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30PM Friday, March 1 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Mark Wible officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00PM Thursday, February 28 at the funeral home. Mr. Bloomfield was born in Leander, Texas on March 31, 1916. He came to Waco as a child, attended Waco schools and was a graduate of Waco High School, Class of 1934. He married Dorothy Rowton on June 15, 1941 in Waco. He was a W.W.II Army Air Corps Veteran. He was a civil engineering technician at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco. He moved to Lubbock in 1965 and worked at Reese Air Force Base, returning to Waco in 1974. He was a Baylor supporter, belonging to Baylor Bear Club and Baylor Bear Foundation. He retired in 1974. After his retiring, he began running, distance and sprints, and completed two marathons. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Rowton Bloomfield of Woodway; daughter, Peggy Sue Norcross of Arlington; grandchildren, Steve Beasley of Irving and Ronnie Norcross of Mesquite; three great grandchildren; and brother, Gene D. Bloomfield of Houston. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Norcross, Steve Beasley, Jack Moncrief, Bobby Schreiber, Bill McCallun, and Gene D. Bloomfield. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
