Sam B. Gardner, Jr. September 25, 1932 - April 15, 2008 Samuel Barnes Gardner, Jr. of Waco passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008. The family will receive friends from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Born to Sam and Anne Gardner, Sam Jr. was raised in and lived most of his life in Waco. He graduated from Waco High in 1950, attended Texas A&M University, and graduated from Baylor University in 1958. He served our country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He married Mary Anne Turner of Waco in 1960. Sam worked in the automotive supply industry and retired in 1994. His hobbies included golf, fishing, camping and traveling. He won numerous tournaments and prizes in golf, including the Waco City Championship in 1957. Later in life, he and his wife enjoyed dozens of cruises and trips to the Caribbean. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Turner Gardner of Waco; son, Sam Gardner III of Sacramento, California; daughter, Julia Gardner, MD of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; brother, Kendall Gardner of Wasilla, Alaska. His immediate family and numerous other relatives mourn his passing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends Rescue, 6321 Airport road, Waco, TX 76708, 254-543-9444.
