Sarah Anne Cook of Waco passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at The Providence Hospice Place at St. Catherine. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22, at First United Methodist Church of Waco with the Rev. Molly Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Sarah was born July 6, 1929, in Guilford County, North Carolina. She married John E. Cook, Jr., on May 29, 1949, and graduated from Peace College in Raleigh, North Carolina, that same day. When John was stricken with polio, she cared for him through recovery and later, post-polio. They moved to Waco in 1959, where she was an Executive Secretary for Success Motivation Institute, Inc., President of the United Methodist Women and Circle Club of First United Methodist Church. She loved people, animals, flowers, beaches, auto racing and the Tour de France. Sarah will rest by her husband of 51 years, John E. Cook, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband. She is survived by her son, John E. Cook, III of Waco; sister-in-law, Iris Anne Stewart; niece, Leslie Stewart Rolfe; and nephews, Rodney and Brian Stewart of Robins, North Carolina. Memorials may be made to Waco Internal Medicine, Providence Hospital, Providence Hospice Place or First United Methodist Church of Waco.
