Sarah Osborne Streetman passed away on February 14th 2017 at her home in Waco. She was 98 years old. Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco Texas on Friday February 17th at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sarah was born in in Temple, Oklahoma on October 7th, 1918 to James Bailey Osborne and Jewel White Osborne. She had a younger brother, Travers Osborne. She attended high school in Harlingen and Brownsville Texas. She went to Baylor University from 1935-1938. She was a precocious student, graduating from high school at 16 and attaining a bachelor’s degree at the age of 19. She married her life-time love, Edwin Wilson Streetman shortly after graduating from Baylor. They lived in Waco, Luling, Beaumont, and Palestine, Texas before settling in Beaumont and raising two children, Helen Elizabeth Streetman and James Wilson Streetman. She worked for Magnolia Oil Company during World War II, and later as an assistant to a bank executive in Beaumont. She later retired to support her husband as he transitioned from the insurance business to opening a chain of large successful retail stores in Beaumont, Austin, and Cleburne, Texas. She was a life-time member of various Baptist churches, the most recent being 1st Baptist Church of Waco. She was very active in supporting Baylor University with her time and financial support. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin Streetman and her younger brother, Travers Osborne. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Jaquess, son, James Streetman, and his fiancée, Marina Presley. In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to the Ed and Sarah Streetman Scholarship Fund at Baylor University in her name.
