Selma Ann Kunkel Pick January 12, 1921 - February 25, 2014 Selma Pick, 93, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 25, 2014, in McGregor, Texas. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jim Menke officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, February 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Selma was born January 12, 1921 in Otto, Texas to Fritz and Della Kunkel. She was the oldest of seven children. She was raised in the Otto area, attending school at St. Paul School. Selma married Buck Pick on September 30, 1939. She worked as a cashier at Piggly Wiggly for many years. After retiring, she used her skills as a seamstress, making clothing for several women. In addition to sewing clothes, she made hand-stitched quilts, providing quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They are cherished by all who received them. Selma was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waco for over 60 years. She participated in the LWML, Young at Heart, Quilters and Lutheran Braille Workers. She also loved to dance, attending many dances at Sul Ross and Geneva Hall. She was an inspiration to many with her sweet smile and good heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buck; and two sisters, Viola Jund and Alice Kunkel. She is survived by daughters, Sharon Devora and husband, Lorenzo of Pipe Creek, Texas, and Carol Trantham, and husband, Michael of Waco, TX; grandchildren, Stacy Gullion and wife, Tina, LeAnn Goyco and husband, Rafael, Anthony Trantham and wife, Melissa, Laura Rangel and husband, Ben, and Lorenzo Devora III; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Olga Schlemmer, Doris Banas, Verneta Grohoske; and brother, Charles Kunkel and wife, Mary; and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Westview Manor in McGregor and Bluebonnet Hospice Care for their special care and concern for mother.
