Sherry Mccartney

Sherry Merritt McCartney of Waco was taken to heaven by angels on April 1, 2017. Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 4 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at 6:00 PM Monday, April 3 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Sherry was born in Waco to Royce and Shirley Merritt on September 27, 1955. Her smiling face will be missed but her suffering has been eased; for that we are thankful. Sherry was preceded in death by her daddy, Royce Merritt. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Ann Merritt, along with brother, Jerry Merritt and wife Kelly. She is also survived by niece, Lacy Avant and husband Stacey, and niece, Danielle Rogers; great nieces, Noelle Million, Vivienne Avant, and Savannah Avant. She leaves behind uncle and aunt, Bill and Karen Erck, and aunts, Juanita Merritt and Frieda Merritt, as well as several cousins. Also left to cherish her memory are forever friend and former husband, Ron McCartney, and lifelong friend, Lela McClearan White. Sherry attended school in Waco and graduated from University High School. She enjoyed life and always had a smile on her face. A great dancer in her earlier days, she enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Despite her struggles Sherry always remained positive and was at peace with the Lord at the time of her passing.
