Marie Louise “Sherry” Power Hill passed away on Friday, November 18th, 2016. A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 22nd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. A private graveside service for the family will be held Wednesday, November 23rd followed by a memorial service at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Jack Daniels and Pastor Tim Jarrell will officiate. Sherry was born in Marshall, TX, on November 20th, 1926, the only child of Vinton Eugene Power, and Marie Louise Dannhaeuser Power. She was raised in Marshall, and then attended the University of Texas at Austin, and North Texas State University, where she graduated in 1948, with a BBA. She was elected Beauty and a Favorite at North Texas State University and at Texas A&M. Sherry married the love of her life, Richard Hudson (Dick) Hill, Sr., on April 21st, 1948, in the First Methodist Church in Marshall. They moved to Waco in 1956 and resided in Waco for 60 years. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sherry was also active in the community, and as her children grew, she made time in her busy life to serve as President of the Crestview Elementary PTA and President of the Tennyson Junior High PTA. She was first President of the Insurance Women's Club and President of the Pan-Hellenic. She was active in the Mary Milan Garden Club and the Historic Waco Foundation. She was past President of her Chi Omega Sorority, and later, a Chi Omega advisor at Baylor University. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She and her husband were active members of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church for 60 years, where they served variously, as members of the board, as greeters and ushers, and as members of the Friendship Class Official Memorial Committee. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Sherry and Dick are survived by their three sons: Richard Hudson Hill, Jr. and wife Kathy, Malcolm Scott Hill and partner Shamir Shah, and Stephen Power Hill; granddaughters Courtney Hill Khorrami and husband Joe, and Christina Joy Hill. Honorary Pallbearers are Newman Copeland, Dr. Scott Jones, James Mathis, Gary Granger, Randy Stacks and William Dair Power.
