Dr Siegfried Kreis passed away on April 2, 2021, at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., April 12, at the First Baptist Woodway Church. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed on the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home website, www.WHBFamily.com. There will be a short reception at the church following the service. Sig, as he was called by his best friends, was a trusted leader and follower of Jesus. In his younger years he worked at AWANA clubs and served as a student leader in the youth ministry (Son City) of Willow Creek Community Church. He loved people and shared the love of Jesus to several students throughout the years. His impact on the lives he touched was life changing. He was a true servant leader! Sig understood the love of Jesus and knew his ultimate destination was in Heaven. He will be missed dearly. Sig was a proud alumnus of Baylor University, where he graduated with honors and continued on to earn his Master’s in education. He then received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He committed his life to helping and healing, and touched hundreds of lives while on Earth. His commitment to a better world extended beyond his medical practice, and he was always there to lend a helping hand or words of advice for those who needed it. Sig was an integral part of the medical community, particularly his work with hospice and the nursing homes in the surrounding areas. He committed his life to caring for his patients and residents. The relationships he built with staff, from housekeeping to administrator, was humbling and has produced many lifelong friendships. He encouraged greatness in everyone he met and was a mentor to all who worked with him. Sig was passionate about people - he never met a stranger. He loved to make people laugh and brought joy to many. A gifted storyteller, Sig could always pick the right story to fit the occasion. His hobbies included gardening, cooking for his two boys, cruising, travel and rooting for Baylor’s football and basketball teams. Sig is survived by his sons, Austin and Dylan; his mother, Valerie; his brother, Stephen; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Sig died at home peacefully, surrounded by his two boys and his loving partner and caregiver, Rachel Mascarenas. He will be missed by many. We would like to thank DJ from Interim Hospice and all the family and friends who provided love, support and prayers during Sig’s final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Interim Hospice Foundation, which supports those unable to afford hospice care and services. The family invites you to leave a message or memory on our “Tribute Wall” at www.WHBfamily.com.
