FLORSHEIM, SIMON Simon Florsheim, age 85, of Waco died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be 2:30 PM Friday, June 25 at Temple Rodef Sholom, 1717 N. New Rd. in Waco with Rabbi Mordecai Podet officiating. Burial will follow at Rodef Sholom Cemetery. Mr. Florsheim was born August 14, 1918 in Waco to Nettie and Sylvan Florsheim. He was reared and educated in St. Louis and Chicago and graduated from Waco High School in 1936. He served as a Captain in the U. S. Army from 1941 to 1945 and served in the China-Burma-India Theater for 2 ½ years. On March 24, 1946, he married Fanchon Schwartz. He was a member of Temple Rodef Sholom and a charter member of Heart of Texas Lions Club. Mr. Florsheim was a founding member of Lake Air Little League. He served as president of Northwestern Little League and was active on the board for many years. Mr. Florsheim was employed as a financial advisor for Schneider, Bernet and Hickman for 25 years before retiring in 1985. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. James Hodges and Eva Crocker for their love and compassionate care. Mr. Florsheim was survived by his wife, Fanchon Florsheim, sons, Yogi Florsheim and wife Leslie of Fort Worth, Joel Florsheim and wife Ricki of Waco. Grandchildren, Haley, Robyn and Stacy of Dallas and Erin of Austin. Pallbearers will be Newman Copeland, G. Malcolm Louden, Harold Mathias, Edwin Katten, Isaac Levy, Marc Lopin and Harry R. Lopin. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Wood, Jr., H. M. Louden, Julian Oates, Dr. William Roddy, Pat Pattillo and Bernard Unell. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
