SUELLA STOKES Suella Moore Stokes, 104, of San Angelo, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, in San Angelo. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. Burt Burleson officiating. Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd., is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Stokes was born on September 30, 1897 in Young County, Texas to Sam H. and Mary Elizabeth Rutledge Moore. She married Henry C. Stokes in 1914. They were longtime residents and former members of Seventh & James Baptist Church. She was presently a member of DaySpring Baptist Church in Waco. She had been a resident of San Angelo for the past 15 years. Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1983 and one son, George M. Stokes, on July 14, 2001. Survivors include her son, Gordon Stokes of Houston; daughter-in-law Katy Stokes of Waco; grandchildren Owen Stokes of Houston, Mary Susan Stokes of Austin, Martha Rouse of Portland, OR, Christina Mullens of Dallas and Polly Barnes of Brandon, MS; and seven great grandchildren.
