BARE, TED Ted Bare, 78 of Waco died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at a local hospital. Memorial services will be at 11am Friday, July 16 at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 1624 Wooded Acres Dr. with the Rev. John Wells officiating. There will be a visitation at the home of John and Melinda Quinius, 2701 Lake Air Dr. on Thursday, July 15 from 5:30-7:30pm. Ted was born in Ontario, California on August 28, 1925 to Anna Elizabeth and Guy Bare. He graduated from Chino High School and came to Texas in 1943 with the V-12 Naval Unite stationed at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. After completing his tour of duty in the Navy, Ted graduated from Southwestern in 1947. While in graduate school, Ted coached both basketball and football at Southwestern. In 1951, Ted married Camilla Lanham in Temple on March 23. He continued his coaching career at Temple College and Temple High School. Ted left coaching to take a position with Gifford Hill Company, from which he retired in 1988. In 2002, Ted was inducted into Southwestern University’s Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding achievements as an athlete during his college years. During Ted’s retirement years, he coached two of his granddaughters’ basketball teams at St. Paul’s School. Ted is survived by his wife, Camilla, daughters, Melinda Quinius and husband, John of Waco and Marianna Hogue and husband, Ted of Dallas; grandchildren, Blair, Kate and Meg Quinius and Mary Alice, Molly and Peter Hogue; sister-in-law, Linda Douglass of Salado; and sisters-in-law in Oregon and California, Mrs. William Bare and Mrs. Clement Bare.
