LUCENAY, TED Ted C. Lucenay, 79 of Hewitt, died Thursday, December 2, 2004. Services will be at 2pm Sunday, December 5 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Harry Lucenay and the Reverend Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Saturday, December 4 at the funeral home Garden Room. Mr. Lucenay was born January 20, 1925 in Hollywood, California to Harry and Marion D. Lucenay. Lucenay had a fascinating childhood, growing up in Hollywood, California, where one of the “members” of his household was Pete, the “Our Gang” comedy dog, owned by Ted’s father. Ted graduated from Hollywood High School. He was a Corporal in the Army of the United States during World War II serving in the Medical Corp. He married Helen Perkins of Neches in 1947. He established Lucenay Hearing Aid Service in May of 1953, serving the hard of hearing until his retirement in January, 1995. Mr. Lucenay graduated from Baylor University with a M.A. in Psychology, May, 1959. Mr. Lucenay was active in civic affairs in the Waco community, including 11 years service on the Board of Education for Robinson ISD and two years as the Mayor of Robinson. He was a Rotarian, Gideon, and a Trustee of the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor for nine years. Mr. Lucenay served two years as Chairman of the Board of Deacons of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen E. Lucenay of Hewitt; daughter Dicque and husband Joe Oliver of Sulphur Springs and their children Amber, Corey, and Thomas Oliver; daughter, Adelle Lucenay of Waco and her daughter Tiffany Willmann; son, Harry and wife Nancy Lucenay of Hong Kong and their children Jonathan and Holly Lucenay, Elise and Andrew Crapuchettes and their son Jackson, and Charles Lucenay; son, Tom and wife Susan Lucenay of Hewitt and their children Bridget and Wendy Lucenay, and Jennifer and Brandon Brown and their son Austin; and one niece and two nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jonathan Lucenay, Charles Lucenay, Corey Oliver and Thomas Oliver, and nephews, Dr. J. R. Ivins and Ernie Ivins. The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Christopher Grant, Hillcrest Hospice, and a very special thanks to the Hanover Angels; Shannon Teal, Gloria Johnson, Norma Martinez, Rosalinda Martinez, Pat Bush and Susie Pursley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Center at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church.
