Terry Joe Walters of Waco passed away Friday, February 9, 2018. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Terry Joe Walters was born April 23, 1938, in Groesbeck, Texas, to T.J. and Mildred Walters. He grew up in Waco, with his parents, in a Dr Pepper-loving home. He attended Waco High School, where he built numerous friendships and wonderful memories. Early in his career, Terry worked for Dr Pepper and then went to work for General Tire, where he later retired after 25 years. After his retirement, he stayed active as he continued to work as a security officer and then as a delivery route operator. Terry was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union #312. In addition to his family and Dr Pepper, Terry loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, John Wayne movies, the Dallas Cowboys, a good Whataburger, sweet things to eat and telling great fish stories. Terry is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Shirley; son, Lance Walters and his wife, Yvette; daughter, Leslie Morley and husband, Dave; and stepdaughter, Kimberly Zapata and her husband, Amador. His pride and joy were his seven grandchildren, Laura Walters, Ryan Walters and his wife, Savannah, Amanda Foster and husband, Brad, Christopher Morley, Matthew Morley, Mariah Solano, and Hunter Solano; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Walters.
