Terry Lynn Jones, our brother, father, husband and friend was born July 15, 1964 to the late Grady Lee Jones and Geraldine Jones. Terry was the baby boy out of five children. He accepted Christ at an early age at Pleasant Hill Baptist Churchi in Farmerville, LA. Upon relocating to Waco, TX, he joined Hopewell Baptist Church in Axtell, TX under the pastorate of Rev. Brill Stone, and later united with St. Mary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Gregory Griggs. Terry was a man who enjoyed spending time around family and friends. He loved talking plenty of noise and cracking many jokes. He had a very keen sense of humor that would etch a smile on everybody’s face. He loved to cook, especially bar-b-queing. He really loved watching his favorite football team, the Washington Commanders. Terry wasn’t shy about working, because he exemplifed a strong work ethic, and didn’t mind doing many tasks. He was very skilled in cement work for years, and loved working for the penal system. Terry loved to dress well and always thought that he was the only one clean in the room!
Terry Lynn attended Farmerville High School and later joined the United States Army and National Guard, receiving an Honorable Discharge. Terry moved to Killeen, Texas with his sister Veronica and later settled in Waco, Tx for over 30 years. Terry Lynn became the father to his only child Rulon Jones (LaShenta Talton), and was married to the late Sue Jones. Later in life, he was blessed again with the love of his life, his wife Phyllis Walton-Jones. He returned home recently to Homer, Louisiana, and departed this life on Sunday November 20, 2022 at Claiborne Memorial Hospital.
Terry leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother Geraldine Jones of Farmerville, LA; loving wife Phyllis Walton-Jones of Waco, TX; loving son Rulon Jones of Waco, TX, stepdaughter Skyy Walton of Waco, TX; grandchildren Ava and Ace Walton of Waco, TX. 3 sisters: Sharon Sims (Eugene), Veronica Evans (Henry) of Farmerville, LA, and Chetirl Robles (Morris); sister in law Donna Cole Jones, 3 nephews; two godchildren Anthony Smith and Kaveterus Jones. Special friends: Steve and Darlene Goldsby, Micheal Morgan Jr., Dalton Hogue, and James Goldsby. Godmother Hattie Sue Fields and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
