The Reverend Robert M.Tarbet, Jr. US Army Lieutenant Colonel Retired November 30, 1938 – April 21, 2016 Bob Tarbet of McGregor, Texas, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, pursuing adventure and enjoying life. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Waco. Burial will be1:30 p.m. Monday, May 9, at the Houston National Cemetery. Bob was born in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1962 and served two tours in Viet Nam. Bob attended the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest and was ordained to the priesthood in 1973. After serving two missions in Palacios and Matagorda, Texas, Bob returned to the Army as a chaplain and moved to Fort Stewart, Georgia. Following a tour of duty in Wiesbaden, Germany, Bob returned to Texas and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He then moved to Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, and worked as the comptroller for the Army Chaplain School. After retiring from the Army, Bob served churches in Lindale, Marble Falls, Marlin, Mexia, and Hamilton, Texas. While in Marble Falls, Bob became a paramedic and worked with the local EMS. After moving to McGregor, he volunteered with McGregor EMS and later with Crawford EMS. There were many adventures in Bob’s professional and personal life including motorcycles, bicycles, hiking, HAM radio, and learning to scuba dive at 75. He lived life with gusto with Beverly, his wife of 53 years, by his side. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edith Tarbet; and his brother, The Rev. David B. Tarbet. Bob is survived by his wife, Beverly; his daughter, Jenny and husband, Terry, of Sugar Land, Texas; son, Chris and wife, Amelia, of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Jessica, Patrick and wife, Skyley, Elliot, Graham, Neil, and Dean and wife, Bobbie; and great grandchildren, Chayson, Logan, Blayton, Luke, Conner, and Alex. Pallbearers are Terry Johnson, Michael Johnson, Patrick Johnson and Stan Crain.
