Thelma Aline Smith October 17, 1917 – April 21, 2006 Thelma Aline Smith of Waco passed away April 21, 2006. Services will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday, April 24, 2006 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Born October 17, 1917 in Lott, Texas to John Henry and Maude Lovorn, she graduated from Waco High School in 1935, and then attended Four-C Business School. She worked at Blackland Army Air Base where she met and married her husband, Bernard C. Smith. He died on March 12, 1995. Mrs. Smith was a charter member of the Baylor Senior Adult Choir until her retirement in 2002 due to health reasons. She had been a member of Seventh & James Baptist Church since 1927. She played the piano for the Wommack Sunday School Class for many years. She was a very active member of her church for most of her life. Mrs. Smith enjoyed her three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. She had a devoted group of church friends and a loving and caring group of neighbors. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her loving husband, her brother Herman Lovorn and sister, Elizabeth Martin. Mrs. Smith is survived by her two daughters, Patsy Stroud and husband Charlie of Hewitt and Ginger Wilson and husband Ernie of Waco; three granddaughters, Traci Waldschmidt and husband, Mark of Lorena, Staci Hutyra and husband, Steve of North Richland Hills and Michelle Haselby and husband, Jeff of Ft. Collins, Colorado; one sister, Joyce Wilkinson of Troup, Texas and a brother, Richard Lovorn of Waco. She is also survived by five loving great-grandchildren, Kelci Waldschmit, Libby and Parker Hutyra and Noah and Audrey Haselby. Pallbearers will be Mark Lester, Clyde Vanderpoole, Steve Hutyra, Mark Waldschmidt, Dale Williams, and John Pavelka. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Hillcrest Hospice and all their loving and caring staff, to Cynthia Chambers and to her special neighbor, Clyde Vanderpoole. The family will be at 5607 Hawthorne. Memorials can be made to Hillcrest Community Hospice.
