NOKELEY, THELMA Thelma M. Nokeley, age 96 of Bruceville, went home to be with our Lord Sunday, September 12, 2004. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, September 15 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Monsignor Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7pm Tuesday, September 14 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Thelma was born December 13, 1907 in Tokio, Texas to John C. and Jessie Healer. She was a 1927 graduate of Waco High School. She married her husband of 45 years, John Davis Nokeley, Sr., in 1931. Out of their marriage was born two children, John Davis, Jr. and Barbara. Throughout her life she worked in retail sales in Waco. She is best known by her grandchildren as “Granny”. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and loved her. Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson, James W. Midgett, III. She is survived by daughter, Barbara Elleen Nokeley Midgett of Waco; son, John Davis Nokeley, Jr. of Waco, grandchildren, Mark D. Nokeley and wife, Juanita of Collinsville, Illinois and Lorie Simmons-Diaz and husband, Felix of Waco; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice Care, St. Louis Catholic Church or favorite charity.
