Thelma Viola Harper Niles, 75, of Waco, passed away Friday, June 4, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be at 2pm, Tuesday, June 8, at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church, with Rev. Drew Wilson and Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 Monday, June 7 at the funeral home. Mrs. Niles was born June 9, 1928 in Waco, to Clarence Brackenridge and Thelma Mae Chamber Harper. She attended Gurley Elementary, South Junior and graduated from Waco High School in June, 1945. She attended Mrs. Abbey’s Business School from 1945 to 1946. She married Oscar Wade Niles June 29, 1946 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death November 6, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her infant daughter. Viola had been a member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church since September, 1963. She had previously attended Edgefield Baptist Church and Oak Lawn Baptist Church. Survivors include sons; Arnie Wade Niles and wife Daulta of Pensacola, Florida and James Ray Niles and friend Suzanne Robinson of Kooskia, Idaho, grandchildren; Jabin Wade Niles and wife Bethany, Kisron Kirk Niles, and Jennifer Lucille Niles, sister; Betty June Richards and husband Dyoil of Selma, two nieces, one nephew, two great nephews, three great-great nieces, twin great-great nephews, several cousins and many friends. Pallbearers will be Stephan Mark Blackburn, Thom Holden, James Dean, John Cowan, Kenneth Brotherman, Jay Keith Ford, Harold Gibson and Ray Bridges. Memorials may be made to Park Lake Drive Baptist Church.
