Theodore Joseph Vicha

January 28, 1932 — January 24, 2022

Ted Vicha passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at home with his family by his side. Graveside Memorial Services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 29, at Oakwood Cemetery. Ted was born January 28, 1932, in Axtell, Texas, to Rudolph and Rosalee Vicha. He married Carolyn Monaghan September 30, 1955. They raised three wonderful children. He had his own business as a ceramic tile contractor. Ted believed in spending time with his family and teaching family values by example. He and Carolyn were married for 66 years. They lived a full life together traveling to fifty different countries and many states in the U.S.A. He believed that hard work was essential to a successful family. Ted loved gardening and fixing things. His grandchildren always said, “Take it to Papaw when something breaks; he can fix anything.” He had a knack for repairing things that many people had given up hope to fix. Ted was an avid gardener and always grew many more fruits and vegetables than he could ever use. He believed in sharing to all his family and friends. One of his favorite ways to pass time was to pick and shell pecans. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being frustrated at Publishers Clearing House for not finding his home. He was preceded in death by parents, Rosalee and Rudolph Vicha; brothers, Rudolph, Emil, and Robert Vicha; and sisters, Angela Pechacek, Martha White, and Rosie Wood. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Vicha; children, Pamela Bland, Brenda Baker, and Ted Vicha and wife, Julie; grandchildren Blake and Jason Bland, Heather Dudley, Kenny Baker, Mitchell Vicha, Chelsea Calbat, and Stephanie Heiner; greatgrandchildren, Brooklyn, Hadleigh, Cathan, Kaden, Addison, Riley, Marek, Kensley, and Clara Jane; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2).
