Theona Moody

November 19, 1926 — October 1, 2013

Theona Moody November 19, 1926 - October 1, 2013 Theona Moody, 86, of Lorena passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Father Ted Tsitsilianos officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. A visitation and the Trisagion service will be 6:30 p.m., Monday, October 7, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Theona was born November 19, 1926, in Sterling, Illinois, to Steve and Artemis Delaveris. Theona, with her twin sister and her older brother, were the first natural American children of this Greek heritage family born in the United States. The family moved to Chicago with the Depression, and Theona graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1943. She met Walter Moody while he served as an instructor for the Navy at the University at Chicago. They married in December of 1945, and were together until Walter's time on the world ended August 10, 2010. Theona gave birth to five children, three sons and two daughters. From the moment of each of the five with the first spark that came to life within Theona, the purpose of her life for each was to love and care for each of the five. Although Theona had, from time to time, to hold employment outside the home, her primary mission in her life was to provide for the five the love and well being of each of them. Theona was ever the support and the advocate of each of her children and, by extension, to her many grandchildren. Although she is gone from here, she continues with each of us, as will our love remain with her for each of our days. Theona was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Waco. Theona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; by her brother, Leo S. Delaveris; and by her sister, Katerina Ring. She is survived by son, Steve Moody and wife, Velinda, of Lorena; daughter, Becca Parsons and husband, Michael, of San Pedro, California; son, Ray Moody and wife, Valerie, of Greeley, Colorado; son, Ted Moody and wife, Xiao, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and daughter, Tina Morgan of Las Vegas; thirteen grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Steve Moody, Ray Moody, Ted Moody, Ben Moody, Michael Moody and Gary Moody.
