Walter Dhanwar officiating. . Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Rosary, Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the foyer of the church. Thomas (Tommy) was born August, 11, 1924 in Newark, New Jersey, to Frank Beveridge and Lillian Petty. He attended school in Newark, New Jersey. He was in the Peace Corp, a city bus driver and he retired from Goodwin Sheet Metal Works in Waco. He joined the U.S. Army and served in WWII landing on Normandy Beach day 3. While there he visited France and England and was able to see one of his brother’s, Fredrick (Teddy) while on active duty. Four of the brothers served in WWII at the same time. Tommy was stationed at Camp Hood, now called Ft. Hood, when he came to Waco’s USO. There he met our mother, Santina, who volunteered at the USO. They were married March 27, 1949 at St. Mary’s Church in Waco. Tommy and Sandy had four daughters: Linda, Patricia, Sandra and Nancy. Their family lived in Waco and the city of Beverly Hills. Tommy was on the city council of Beverly Hills for a few years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW and played Santa Clause for his grandchildren even while riding his scooter. Sometimes the grandchildren would spend the night and watch wrestling matches, have snacks and camp out. When his girls were young and going to school, Tommy would fix their breakfast: cereal, pancakes, eggs and oatmeal and he’d always check out scary night noises. He would take his girls to the boxing matches in Waco-not sure his daughters enjoyed it as much as he did. He took care of their Mom when she was sick and passed. He was their strength when Johnny, Ron, Sandra and Dennis passed away. As Grandpa he would play and cater to his grandchildren. Through the years he donated blood to the Red Cross, belonging to the 10 gallon club. Tommy loved the classic channel naming all the actors and actresses – some of the grandchildren enjoyed those movies also. Thomas Beveridge was loved and respected by many extended family members who have told us heartwarming stories about their encounter with him. There is so much more that we could say about the best father a daughter could have.
