Thomas Coleman Lyster

Thomas Coleman Lyster October 28, 1949 – June 18, 2006 Thomas Coleman Lyster, 56, of Waco, went to be with the Lord and his dad on Father’s Day, June 18, 2006 after a long illness. Services will be held Wednesday, June 21, at 1:30 PM at Highland Baptist Church. Burial will follow at St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery, Tours, TX. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, June 20, from 5:30-7:30 PM at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Tom Lyster was the son of Jim and Anne Coleman Lyster, both deceased, and was a native Wacoan. He graduated from Waco High School in 1968 and from Baylor University in 1972. He and Eileen Tobola were married on January 18, 1980 at Highland Baptist Church. He had worked for Marathon Aerospace-Norco for 26 years and was a long-time member of the Heart of Texas Model Railroad Association and the Katy Historical Society. He also was an avid collector of Coleman and railroad lanterns. Tom is survived by his wife of 26 ½ years, Eileen Tobola Lyster, two sisters: Jimanne Heather, her husband Steve, and children Michael Meadors and Melody Spivey; and Patty Holcomb, her husband Steve, and children Patrick Holcomb and Rachel Simpson. Tom’s two brothers are: Robert, his wife Arazella, and children Bob Lyster and Helen Mason; and Johnny and his wife Stephanie. Eileen’s family members include: one brother Robert Tobola of Elm Mott, three sisters Irene Schiemenz and husband, Bob of Gholson, Pauline Hoelscher and husband Larry of Westphalia, and Dorene Soukup and husband, Alvin of West. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Earl Holloway, Rex Willhelm, Randy Clark, Michael Meadors, Joe Wiley and Titus Menzel. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas’s railroad friends: Ralph Robertson, Joe Summers, Edward Joseph, Steve Bailey, Conard E. Graikowski and Wally Decker. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Hospice or Congestive Heart Failure Unit at Providence Hospital.
