TEMPLE, DAVIS Thomas Davis Temple, 92 of Waco died Sunday, February 20, 2005 at his residence. Services will be held at 11am Tuesday, February 22 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Chuck Treadwell officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Temple was born in Amarillo, Texas October 14, 1912, the son of the Rt. Rev. Edward Arthur Temple and Mary Davis Temple. Upon the death of his father, he came to Waco at the age of twelve and attended Waco public schools. He also attended the Episcopal High School in Virginia and graduated from University of Virginia in 1935. He received his MBA in 1937 from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. After Harvard, he went to work in the investment department of the American National Insurance Company in Galveston, where he stayed until the beginning of World War II, at which time he entered the Army. He served for four years including two in the South Pacific and was separated from the service as a captain in the Army Air Corps. After the war, he married Martha Edmond of Waco and they moved to Dallas where they lived for 30 years. With the exception of the war years, he spent all his working life as an investment analyst. In Dallas, he was associated with the securities firm of Walker Austin and Waggoner and then was investment counsel for Employers Insurance of Texas. He was a past president of Dallas Association of Investment Analysis and vice-president of the National Federation of Financial Analyst Societies. After his retirement in 1977, he and his wife returned to Waco where he became active in such civic organizations as Historic Waco Foundation and Greater Waco Beautification Association. He also was a patron of Waco Symphony and Art Center. An active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, he served for several years as a trustee of the St. Paul’s Endowment Fund. Survivors include his wife, Martha Edmond Temple of Waco, brother, Edward A. Temple of Arizona, niece, Mary Temple Biester of Arizona and her daughters, Carolyn Worthington Biester and Shelly Biester Wright. Pallbearers will be John T. Davis, Donald B. Davis, William E. Penland, Walter Lacy III, Tom Chase, and Jack Burgess. Honorary pallbearers are Hal Stringer, George Chase, Alexander Haw and Robert Crosthwait. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
