GOODWIN, THOMAS Thomas E. Goodwin, 86, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2004 at a local rest home. Services will be at 9:30 on Tuesday, September 28 at the Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Chapel with Rev. Mike Patterson of Western Heights Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will follow at the Mausoleum at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tom was born to Maggie and Thomas Goodwin on January 31, 1918, in Ellis County, Texas. He attended schools in Ellis County. On December 20, 1941, he married Agnes Simpson at the Patton Baptist Church. He retired after working for the International Harvester Company of Waco for 30 years. He was a member of the Western Heights Baptist Church and the Crusaders Sunday School Class. Tom always loved hunting, fishing, and tinkering with things to make them better. He also enjoyed telling stories, playing jokes, and listening to gospel music. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Elizabeth Ray and Claudia Nixon. Survivors include his devoted wife of almost 63 years, Agnes, and his daughter, Kathy, and her husband Ed Rolan, Jr., his sister Jo Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Steven Short, Jimmy Darrell Simpson, Kenneth Simpson, Bill Alsup, James Alsup, and Rex Marion. Honorary pallbearers will be the Crusaders Sunday School Class of Western Heights Baptist Church. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Crusaders Men’s Sunday School Class at Western Heights Baptist Church.
