Thomas J. H. McLeod March 26, 1925 - March 30, 2010 Thomas Jacob Hollander McLeod, 85, of Waco passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at his residence. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 2, at Austin Avenue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Mesa officiating. The family will have a private burial in Corsicana, TX. Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Tom was born March 26, 1925, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Thomas and Leita McLeod. After graduating from high school, he served in the Navy during WWII and then attended Baylor University, earning a degree in business administration in 1949. He married Dotty Hathorn on August 11, 1956, in San Antonio. When she passed away in 2005, they had been married 48 years. Tom was a member of Austin Avenue United Methodist Church for 20 years and a member of the Friendship Class. He worked for Metropolitan Savings and Loan in Dallas for over 20 years, before retiring and moving to Waco. Tom loved gardening and working in his yard, but his favorite pastime was following and attending his grandchildren's school and sports activities. He is survived by his son, John H. McLeod and wife, Nancy, of Lorena; daughters, Beth Brence and husband, Gerald R., of Plano, TX, and Katherine McLeod of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Lauren McLeod of Waco, Maggie and Peter McLeod of Lorena, First Lieutenant Ryan Brence of Fort Hood, TX, Beau and Collin Brence of Plano, and Abby and Arden Veach of Memphis. Tom's family would like to thank all of the staff and residents of The Village at Providence Park for all of the love and kindness they showed him while he lived there. Memorials may be made to Austin Avenue United Methodist Church, Caritas of Waco, or Meals on Wheels.
