Thomas "Tony" Anderson Abel

Thomas Anderson Abel July 11, 1924 - August 20, 2014 Thomas Tony Anderson Abel of Waco passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 23, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 22, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Tony was born July 11, 1924, in Wise County, Texas, to Walter and Iva Abel. He served the U.S. Army during WWII. He and Marjorie Faye Hawkins were married April 12, 1946. They lived in Dallas for 40 years, and Tony was employed at Vought Aircraft for 34 years. After retirement the family moved to Hewitt, Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-father, Roy Neel. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marjorie Faye Abel; his daughter, Paula Dawson of Hewitt; his son, Gregory Abel of Arlington, Texas; grandchildren, Jay Dawson and wife, Andrea, Stephanie Dawson, Christopher Abel and Jorie Hemphill and husband, Richard; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler and Tanner Dawson, Korey and Kyle Beatty and Ellen Hemphill; and one great-great-grandson, Kyran Beatty. The family wishes to thank the staff of Regent Care, St. Catherine and Providence Hospice for their loving care and concern. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
