THOMAS LYNCH TUNMIRE Mr. T.L. Tunmire, known best as Lynch, died April 11, 2003 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a long illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial South. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 pm Monday, April 14 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Tunmire was born in Taswell, Tennessee on Dec. 7, 1919, the 12th child of Mattie and Thomas P. Tunmire. He was raised and lived most of his life in the Waco area. He was a veteran of WWII serving as a tail gunner on a B-24. He was discharged as a Staff Sergeant and was awarded the EAME Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, and an Air Medal with three Oak Leaf clusters. On June 28, 1946, he married Virginia Dean Birkes. Mr. Tunmire worked for many years at Gordon Rountree Motors. He leaves behind his bride of 56 years of Oklahoma City, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Steve Crawford of Oklahoma City, daughter and son-in-law Mary and Mike Carmichael of Houston, grandson Thomas Warren Crawford of Norman, Oklahoma, granddaughter and husband Tiffany and Bryan Jenkins of St. Louis and great-grandson Thomas Alan Jenkins, also of St. Louis. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the staff at Odyssey Hospice for the wonderful and loving care they gave to Lynch and his family. Memorials can be given to Meals-on-Wheels of Waco, Texas or Odyssey Hospice of Oklahoma City.
