He married the love of his life, Susan Milligan Lucenay, April 2, 1971. They were married 43 years. He attended Waco schools and graduated from Robinson High School in 1969. He joined the Texas National Guard that same year and served in the Army Airborne National Guard in the 143D Infantry. Tom was honorably discharged March 24, 1975. As a graduate of Baylor University, Tom earned a Bachelor Degree in Marketing and Management in 1976. He carried that knowledge, serving the hard of hearing of McLennan County through Lucenay Hearing Aid Service for 43 years. Tom had a vibrant passion for bringing sound to thousands and he was honored to have had the trust of so many. He served as President of the Texas Board of Examiners in The Fitting and Dispensing of Hearing Aids for several years. Tom's love for people was evident in his gentleness and his never ending smile. Tom eagerly embraced his service with the Hewitt Volunteer Fire Department beginning in March 1976. The Firefighter's Prayer was his guiding light. When Tom was called to duty he did so with a passion like no other. His family knew the demanding tone of his beeper controlled his life. The tone sounded and Tom's engagement mode engulfed him and his goal was to have the strength to save, guard and protect to the best of his ability. April 1986 Tom was elected Fire Chief of Hewitt Fire Department where he served admirably until September 2002.
