Tommie Banks May 18, 1946-September 2, 2017 On Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 12:24 a.m., Tommie Gene Banks transitioned from Earth to Eternity. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 11, at Carver Park Baptist Church with Richard Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Tommie was born on May 18, 1946, in Waco, Texas, to the parentage of Ernest Banks, Sr., and Vilena Kennedy-Banks. Tommie graduated from J.W. Carver in 1966 and went on to become a successful entrepreneur for over 30 years, as owner/operator of B&B Welding in Dallas, Texas. He served the Lord as a minister at Lighthouse COGIC in Dallas, under the leadership of the late Elder E. Calloway, Sr. Most recently, he was the Assistant Pastor at Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Superintendent B.L. Roberson. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Banks, Sr.; his mother, Vilena Banks; step-mother, Ollie Mae Banks; and sister, Kay Francis Slaughter. He is survived by his wife, Delores Morgan-Banks; his four daughters, Melissa Mixon-Brown and husband, Ronald, Larita K. Banks-Barnes and husband, DeMorne, Monica Banks and Triola Michelle Banks-Fergus and husband, Godfrey; three brothers, Ernest Banks, Jr., and wife, Gean, LT Banks and wife, Mary, Morris Evans and wife, Roberta; six sisters, Viola Williams, Colleen McCleain and husband, A.D., Sr., Mattie Banks, Elvira Banks-Thomas, Joslyn Ann Gary and husband, Robert, Shelia Griffin and husband, Bennie; grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
