Troy Roger Nevills, Sr. August 10, 1942 - October 9, 2010 On Saturday, October 9, 2010, the final whistle sounded for Troy Nevills, Sr., 68, of Mart, Texas. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Bro. Gary Kreder officiating. Burial will follow at Mart Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Troy was born August 10, 1942, in Limestone County, Texas, to Ernest "Preacher" and Agnes Moran Nevills. He was raised in the Frosa and Mart communities. He worked for Limestone County Electric Co-op for 22 years and Navasota Valley Electric for 19 years. Troy also served on the Mart Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years. During his tenure on the fire department, he served as Fire Chief and Assistant Chief. On December 4, 1970, he married the love of his life, Linda Hoffpauir. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda; sons, Troy Nevills, Jr., and wife, Jamie, and Odell Nevills, all of Mart; brother, Gary Nevills and wife, Rhonda, of Axtell; grandchildren, Austin, Hunter and Staci Nevills, who were his pride and joy; several cousins and extended family; many, many friends; and his special companion, Peggy Poodle. Pallbearers are Bradley Potts, Charles Holland, Roy Davis, Robert Schlemmer, Jamie Riley, Michael Ihlenfeldt, Marcus Stafford, Bobby Baize, Gene Freeman and Gary Nevills II. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Davis, Donnie Davis, Billy Davis, Randy Davis, Robert Mitchell, Bill Middleton and the Mart Volunteer Fire Department. We know he is riding high in the saddle on Blue on the Streets of Gold. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mart Volunteer Fire Department.
