Ty Ross Gurganus Ii

November 4, 1986 — May 13, 2007

Ty Ross Gurganus II November 4, 1986 – May 13, 2007 Ty Ross Gurganus II of Lorena went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2007 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, at Victorious Life Church, South IH 35 with Pastor Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, May 20 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room at 6101 Bosque Blvd in Waco. Ty was born on November 4, 1986 to Stacy and Ty Ross Gurganus in Tyler Texas. He and his Mom moved to this area when he was about two years old. Ty attended school in Axtell before they moved to Lorena when he started fourth grade. He graduated from Lorena High School in May 2005. Ty loved sports and competition. He played defensive end on the varsity football team 2002-2004 and was named player of the week several times. He excelled in track and placed in the state competition in the 300M hurdles during his senior year of high school. Ty was voted into the Super Cen-Tex Football Team in 2005. During his high school years he was very active in the Grace Community Church Inside/Out Youth Group in Lorena officiated by Chris Bennett. Their mission was to bring the hope of Jesus from inside the Church to the outside world. They went door-to-door to serve people by praying, mowing lawns, fixing fences, painting, and meeting needs. They also went to Denver, Colorado on a mission trip, serving people in the same way. Chris maintains that Ty was a natural leader on these outings. He was filled with such joy, energy, and love of people; while also having the ability to make friends with ease. Ty was signed to play football for Mary Hardin Baylor College and played in every game his freshman year. But he became more and more drawn to the idea of working on and building motorcycles. So in the fall of 2006, he moved his commitment to the Motorcycle Mechanic Institute MMI in Phoenix, Arizona. He fell in love with building motorcycles. He told his Mom that for the first time in his life he hated leaving school each day and looked forward to going every morning. He had successfully built two motorcycles and had a 4.0 average. Family and friends take comfort in the fact that he was doing what he loved most and did best. Living his life to the fullest, he strived to reach the highest branch in the tallest tree with passion, joy, and gusto. He brought much pleasure to his family and friends and will be sorely missed. Ty is preceded in death by his great grandmother, Marjorie Crow Doyle only nine days ago. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Stacy and David Fair of Lorena and his father, Ty Ross Gurganus of Tyler; grandparents, Lenny and Adrian Gurganus of Tyler, Helen Reading of Waco, Louise Moore of Hewitt, and Bill and Harriet Suri of Deming, New Mexico; brother and sisters Rayne, Mindy, and host-sister Blanca Cusine’ of Lorena; step- brother and sister Trenton Armstrong of Lorena and Madison Gurganus of Tyler; fiance’ Jordan Henderson of Temple; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
