SMITH, VALORIE Valorie Jean Valentine-Smith, age 59, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2003. Memorial services will be held at 10am Thursday, January 23 at Lake Shore United Methodist Church with Pamela Dykehouse officiating. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Ms. Smith was born in Lexington, Kentucky to Q. Z. and Genevieve Valentine. She attended Waco High School where she was a majorette. She also graduated from MCC and attended Baylor University. Valorie lived in Waco most of her life. A talented artist for over 35 years, Ms. Smith taught painting and conducted seminars with nationally known art teachers. She worked with such artists as Heidi England, Helen Cavin and Helan Barrick. One of the thrills of her career was to study with Russian master painters. Her artwork appeared in magazines, and on several national television programs. Valorie also represented Liquitex Paints, Binney and Smith, and Deco Art. Ms. Smith belonged to many national painting organizations, among those are the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters, Inc. Throughout her career she consistently received awards for her entries at the Heart of Texas Fair and Texas State Fair. Her father, Q. Z. Valentine, preceded her in death. Survivors include her mother, Genevieve Valentine, daughters, Rochelle Dearman and husband, John, Robin Wiggins and husband, Jeff and Kippy Cooper, grandchildren, Alexandra and Grayson Dearman, Ethan Wiggins and Drake Cooper, other family members include Dr. and Mrs. Edwin E.
