Vance Wilson King, Jr. April 2, 1932 – October 1, 2005 Vance Wilson King, Jr. passed away Saturday, October 1, 2005. Services will be at 11:30 am Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, October 3 at the funeral home. Vance was born April 2, 1932 in Miami, Roberts County, TX to Vance Wilson King, Sr. and Frankie Jackson King and grew up in Atlanta, TX. He attended Texas A & M University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for 30 years with the Texas Highway Dept as a licensed engineer and 6 years as consulting engineer. He served on the Board of Directors of the Highway District 9 Credit Union. He was an avid photographer and loved camping, boating, hunting and traveling. He was also a licensed pilot. Vance was a lifelong Methodist serving as Sunday School Assistant Superintendent while in Atlanta. He was a member of Woodway First United Methodist Church in Waco. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife, Esther King of Woodway; daughters, Linda Rebecca Mantheiy & husband Dr. Joseph of Marble Falls, Nancy Marie King of Midlothian, Laurie Ann Snodgrass & husband J.B. of Cedar Park; son, Larry Steven King of Hewitt; grandchildren, Jared Wallace, Bryan Clark, Michelle & Cole Treider, Joseph and Kurt Mantheiy, Nicole, Katie, & Jennifer Snodgrass. The family requests memorial donations may be made to Woodway First United Methodist Church.
