HUDSON, VELVA B. Velva B. Hudson, of Waco, died unexpectedly on June 18, 2002 at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday, June 26 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Rev. Monsignor Mark Deering officiating. Mrs. Hudson was born in Carroll County, Virginia, the daughter of Arnold and Sylvia Jackson Sutphin. She spent her early life in Virginia and Pennsylvania before coming to Texas in 1974. For many years Velva and her husband, Dr. Robert Hudson were active in Waco Civic activities. Her activities also included membership in several garden clubs, women’s groups, book clubs and Baylor University activities. In later years her interests expanded to animal protection organizations. Velva was known for her directness and spiritual contributions. Dr. Hudson preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors include son, David Dickens, seven sisters and two brothers.
