CROCKER, VENNIE E. Vennie E. Crocker, age 82, died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at a local nursing home. Services will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, April 19 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6-8pm Friday, April 18 in the garden room at the funeral home. Mrs. Crocker, better known as “Granny”, was born December 30, 1921, in Onalaska, Texas to B. G. and Mary Tate. She married Johnnie Crocker on May 29, 1939, in Athens, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2000. The Crockers were members of First Assembly of God Church where they were very active for many years, visiting the sick and elderly, maintaining the yard and building. Granny loved to quilt, garden, work in her yard, and cook. Nothing pleased her more than having her friends and family in her home. She will be missed by all that knew her. Mrs. Crocker is survived by daughter, Dana and husband, Benny Ferguson of Waco; sons, Harold and wife, Robbie, of Kerrville, Roger of Scurry, Maurice Marty and wife, Vanna, of Kerrville; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Elsie Merle Kennedy of Scurry; brothers, Gerald Tate of Trinidad and Barney Tate of Snyder; and much loved brother-in-law, Rowe Crocker and wife, Eilene of Austin. A special note of thanks to Crestview Healthcare Residence/Secure Unit for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Crocker the last two and a half years of her life.
