LEWIS, VERNA Verna Harlan Lewis, age 90, formerly of Waco, died Wednesday, September 19, 2001 in Carrollton, TX. Graveside services will be 2:00PM Saturday, September 22nd at Rosemound Cemetery with Dr. David Pennington officiating. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00PM Friday, September 21st at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 1124 Washington Ave. Mrs. Lewis was born February 8, 1911 in Waco. She graduated from Waco High in 1928. She married Herbert N. Lewis February 16, 1930. He preceded her in death September 26, 1994. She retired from Waco ISD, as a secretary, at Hillcrest Elementary in 1979. Mrs. Lewis was a lifelong member of 7th & James Baptist Church. Survivors include: Daughter: Norma Vandiver and husband, James Grandsons: Jay Vandiver and wife, Marianne Jason Vandiver Great granddaughter: Chelsea Vandiver all of Plano Sister: Joyce Edwards and husband, Bedford of Waco and several nieces and nephews Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
