OBITUARY FOR VERNON GOODWYN Vernon Eugene ''Jiggs'' Goodwyn, 84, of Clifton, died October 7, 2001 at a Clifton hospital. Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 1124 Washington. Vernon Goodwyn was born October 12, 1916 in Middlesboro, Kentucky. After moving to Waco, Texas in 1919, he attended Waco High School and Baylor University and was active in the band. Vernon enlisted in the United States Army in 1941 and received an honorable discharge in 1945. In 1949 he married Peggy Jo Prince of Valley Mills, Texas and was married 52 years. During his life long residence in Waco, Vernon was active in the Masonic Lodge Band and enjoyed flying. He was employed as a civil service air traffic controller at James Connally Air Base and Kelly Air Force Base and retired after 23 years of service. ''Jiggs'' is survived by one son, William Goodwyn of Waco, one daughter, Sarah Bolsins of Clifton, and one sister, Bess Porter of Austin, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
