Vicki Lynn Mitchell

June 12, 1958 — August 11, 2003

MITCHELL, VICKI LYNN Vicki Lynn Mitchell, age 45, of Lorena passed away Monday, August 11, 2003 at her residence. Services will be held at 10am Wednesday, August 13 at First Baptist Church of Woodway with Rev. Mike Patterson and Rev. Jack Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Tuesday, August 12 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Albany, Georgia June 12, 1958. She married Steve Mitchell on September 2, 1978. She graduated from Prattville, Alabama High School and received her degree from Baylor University. She taught elementary school until she started her family, which she completely devoted her life to. She was a member of First Baptist Church Lorena. She was active in teaching children’s Sunday School, Acteens, and Bible Study Fellowship. With the help of friends, she started a local King’s Club backyard Bible study for children that is still active today. She is survived by her husband, Steve and her children, Lee, Jake, and Mika Ellen Mitchell of Lorena; parents, Joe and Carolyn Rodgers of North Richland Hills; sister, Sandra Belek and husband, Jonathan of Pearland; brothers, Bill Rodgers and wife, June of Arlington and John Rodgers and wife, Angie of Azle; parents-in-law, Charles and Mary Lou Mitchell of Waco; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Ann Mitchell of Lorena; uncle and aunt, Marvin and Mary Emma Glass of West Point, Mississippi; fourteen nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom she loved very much. Her family would like to express special thanks to all of their friends and family for their prayers and encouragement during the last few years. Sincere appreciation goes to all the many doctors and nurses at Scott and White and M.D. Anderson, Georgeen Scanes, Sylvia Lemley, Sara Lockett, Dr. Melissa Benham, and Dr. Donnie Stewart for their loving care of Vicki.
