Vickie Carlene Rafferty

January 26, 1955 — March 14, 2023

On March 14, 2023, Vickie Rafferty, a beloved wife, mother of three, and Grammy to eight, succumbed to brain cancer and passed away in her home.


Services will be held Saturday, March 18, at 1:30 p.m., at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Reverend Steve Ramsdell officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanford Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 17, from 5-7 p.m., at the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel.


Born to Carlton Kilgo and Margaret Kent, Vickie graduated from Richfield High School in 1973, and devoted her life to loving and championing all children. After being a dedicated homemaker for her own children, Vickie became a teaching paraprofessional at Woodgate and River Valley Intermediate Schools. Vickie was well known for her zest for life, love for her family and friends, and passion for travel, especially to her favorite place Cabo San Lucas.


Vickie was preceded in death by her father, Carlton Kilgo of Waco; and grandson, Madden McCormick of Woodway.


Vickie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Barney Rafferty of Lorena; and her three children, Stacey Smith and husband, Josh of McGregor, Jenny McCormick and husband, Mark of Woodway, and Tommy Rafferty and wife, Nadya of Waco. Vickie will be missed most by her grandchildren who loved their Grammy dearly, Cole and Graham Smith, Rush and London McCormick, Lyllia, Connor, and Skylar Rafferty. Vickie is also survived by her mother, Margaret Kent of Crawford; brothers, Dub Kilgo of Crawford, Perry Kilgo of Belton, Randy Kilgo of Crawford; and sister, Diane Booker of Lorena; many other loving family members; and countless dear friends.


Pallbearers will be Dub Kilgo, Perry Kilgo, Randy Kilgo, John Snapp, John McCarroll, Thomas Culberson, and Greg Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers include Nathan Peebles, Ben Booker, Kyle Kilgo, Kolby Kilgo, Trevor Cone, Sean Cone, and Jay Russell.
