Viola Carruth November 13, 1910 – November 23, 2007 Viola Carruth, 97, of Waco, passed away Friday, November 23, 2007. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2007 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Rev. Kay Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Viola was born November 13, 1910 in McGregor, TX to F. Will and Emilie Vahrenkamp. She graduated from McGregor High School and moved to Waco in 1932. On February 12, 1939, Viola married Frank Carruth in Waco. He died in 1975. She was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Waco. For 23 years she worked as secretary and bookkeeper for ARA Food Services at Baylor University. She was loved and cherished by family and friends for her smiling face and gentle spirit. Preceding Viola in death were her parents, husband, sisters: Lillie Vahrenkamp, Erna Stewart and Berniece Parker; brother, Will Vahrenkamp; and step-son, Jack Carruth. Survivors include son: James Carruth and wife, Vickie, of Waco; daughter: Wanda Giotes and husband, Artie, of Waco; stepdaughter: Betty Hess and husband, Alvin, of Livingston; stepson, Bill Carruth and wife, Beth, of Village Mills; step-daughter-in-law, Modene Carruth of Mexia; sister-in-law, Louise Vahrenkamp, of Ft. Worth; and a number of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
