Virgil Bobby Reaves

April 18, 1926 — August 2, 2002

REAVES, VIRGIL Virgil Bobby Ray Reaves, age 76, of Hewitt went home to be with his Savior on the night of August 2, 2002. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 5 at the First Baptist Church of Hewitt, with Brother Roy Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Bobby was born April 18, 1926 to William and Sarah Reaves in Whitney, TX. He attended school in Whitney and Waco. He then served in the U.S. Navy from June 1944 to June 1946. Bobby was employed with Jones & Williams Construction for 18 years. He then began Reaves Construction Co., which he operated for 30 years. Bobby was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his time on the lake. He also enjoyed hunting and following Midway Little League Softball and Midway High School Softball teams. Bobby was known for his famous fish fries, where he fed many friends at Hewitt Baptist Church. He was very active in his church and also coached Little League and teenage baseball. Bobby was preceded in death by his mother and father, stepfather Marvin Willis, and grandson Joshua Ray Reaves. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Bettie Reaves; sons, Michael Reaves and wife Suzzane of Woodway, David Frosch and wife Mary of Robinson; daughters, Patricia Shaw and Sherrie Brumbelow of Waco; brother, Billy Reaves and wife Patricia of Waco; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Lacy Williams, Jack Tucker, Dale Troop, Jennings Nehring, Frank Thomas and Joe Briley. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Tanner and Hugh Yates. The family would like to thank the many people with Hillcrest Hospice for their dedication this past year in making Bobby’s stay at home the best it could be, and a special thanks to Charles Walker for his compassionate care.
