Virginia Dean Tunmire March 23, 1922 June 1, 2009 Mrs. Virginia Dean Birkes Tunmire, known best as Dean, died June 1, 2009, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, after a long illness. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, at Waco Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. She was born in Pleasant Grove, Texas, on March 23, 1922, the 9th child of Mary Francis Hudson and William Riley Birkes. She was married on June 28, 1946, to Thomas Lynch Tunmire, who preceded her in death on April 11, 2003. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Steve Crawford of Oklahoma City; granddaughter and husband, Tiffany and Bryan Jenkins of Yukon, Oklahoma; grandson and wife, Thomas and Sara Crawford of Oklahoma City; and great-grandsons, Thomas Alan Jenkins and Michael Austin Chase Jenkins, both of Yukon. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. James Mold, and to all of the staff of Crossroads Hospice and Quail Creek Nursing Center for the wonderful and loving care they gave to Dean and her family.
