Virginia Kendrick November 30, 1924 November 16, 2013 Virginia Kendrick went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 16, 2013. She will be laid to rest in a private service at Oakwood Cemetery. Virginia was born November 30, 1924 in Waco, Texas. She grew up on the Kendrick farm on Spring Valley Road near Cotton Belt Parkway in the Lorena area. She attended Lorena Elementary School and graduated from Waco High School in 1943. In 1944, she completed her studies at Four C Business College in Waco. She moved with her parents and brother to Baytown, Texas and began work for Brown Shipyards during World War II. She helped to build amphibious landing ships, proudly observing the launch of a new ship every day during this period. She married in 1946, raised her daughter, and enjoyed living in Baytown for many years. She was especially fond of the plays at the Baytown Little Theater and going to the beach in Galveston. In recent years, she lived in Austin, Texas, San Diego, California, and Corpus Christi, Texas. She loved to travel and visit her daughter in Newport, R.I., and later in New Orleans, LA. In June of 2012, she and her daughter returned home to McGregor, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leighton L. Kendrick and Lucy Standefer Kendrick, and her brother, Joseph Kendrick. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Sprayberry of McGregor and her beloved cat, Palie Bear.
