Virginia Ladene Tynes

June 5, 1927 — January 10, 2008

Virginia Ladene Tynes June 5, 1927 - January 10, 2008 Virginia Ladene Tynes, "Momma" of Lorena went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 10, 2008. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Dr. Buddy Sipe officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13 in the Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Virginia Ladene "Dene" Tynes was born in Waco, Texas June 5, 1927 to Eletha Edna and Walter Arthur Sullins, Sr. She dated Talmadge Buel Tynes while attending Waco High School and married Tal January 13, 1946 after he returned home from World War II. They had four children, made many life-long friends and have remained close to them throughout their lives. Dene was a homemaker while her children were young and later worked many years at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store in Robinson, Texas. She devoted a lifetime to being a wonderful wife and mother. Dene cared for Tal at home for several years as he struggled with Alzeheimers disease. They had been married 57 wonderful years when Tal passed away May 14, 2003. On April 28, 2004 Tal and Dene's oldest daughter, Donna Lynne Hoelscher, died after a lengthy bout with cancer. Since September 16, 2004 Dene has resided at St. Catherine's long term care facility in Waco. Dene was an inspiration to her family and to those she met throughout her life. Those who visited her and cared for her at St. Catherine's these past years received as much inspiration as they gave to Momma. Her positive attitude and true grit allowed her to make the most of life, whatever the circumstances. She may have lost the ability to speak; but never lost the ability to laugh, smile, and care for others. She laughed the day before she died. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was truly a "Hero" in every sense of the word. She had a special love, devotion, encouragement and respect for law enforcement; and as a result, she was a wife, mother and grandmother of policemen. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister. Dene is survived by two sons, Daryl Wayne Tynes and wife, Diana of Lorena and Dennis Keith Tynes and wife, Mary of Gholson, daughter, Dewana Anne Fitzpatrick and husband, Devin of Bruceville; grandsons, Daryl Ray Tynes and wife, Karen of Round Rock; Billy Keith Tynes and wife, Cindy of Robinson; Travis Lee Honey and wife, Haley of Oklahoma City; James Cullen "JJ" Fischetti of Austin; Jeremy Fischetti of Austin; Joel Andrew Fischetti of Corpus Christi; granddaughters, Angela Dee Honey of Belton; Kelly Elizabeth Mynar of Waco,;and Ann Marie Baxley and husband, Michael of Waco. Dene is also survived by six great-grandsons and five great-granddaughters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Center 4th Floor Activity Fund. A special Thank You to all the staff at St. Catherine's who loved and provided care for "Momma" these past three years.
