Virginia Muller Bostick October 5, 1917 May 17, 2014 Mrs. M.N. "Buddy" Bostick of Waco died Saturday morning, May 17, 2014, in their home. Graveside services will be 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 20, at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. Raymond Bailey officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., Monday, May 19, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Virginia was born to Gladys Vertrees and Herman E. Muller in Ennis, Texas. After finishing fourth grade, she moved with her family to San Angelo, Texas. She graduated from San Angelo High School and attended one year at San Angelo Junior College before transferring to Texas Tech and then to Baylor, where she graduated with a BBA in 1939. Shortly after having arrived at Baylor, she had a blind date with Buddy Bostick, who became the love of her life. He graduated in the summer of 1939 and they married in San Angelo in her parents' home on November 14. Virginia and Buddy lived in Arkansas, Tennessee, and then Dallas where he was a radio announcer prior to his being called into active duty. After the war, they returned to Waco with their two daughters, and Buddy put KWTX radio on the air in 1946. Virginia was a support to Buddy and a full-time mother to their girls, always available to be the room mother, the seamstress for recitals and special occasions, the chauffeur and the birthday-cake maker. She was also the loving caregiver, first to her father and then to her mother, both of whom died in Waco after lengthy illnesses. Virginia was a long-time member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church and a faithful member of the Mixson Sunday School class until the last few years. She also enjoyed meeting with the women in the Coterie Club and the Galaxy Club and had fun playing bridge with friends for many years. Among Virginia's favorite memories were special times with family and friends in Creede, Colorado, where she and Buddy vacationed together for over fifty years. She was also an avid birder and took many birding trips with June Osborn. Traveling to Europe, Alaska, the Galapagos, the Panama Canal and the Caribbean provided more opportunities for adding many species to her life list. She loved her family and was proud of each accomplishment by them. They will miss her nurturing and her warm smile. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorothy Lou Muller. She is survived by her husband; her daughters Ellen and her husband Ray Deaver, and Martha and her husband Jim Phipps; her grandchildren, Kyle Deaver and his wife Diane, John Lee Deaver and his wife Karina, Virginia Jenny and her husband Roy Powers, and Jim Bostick Phipps and his wife Leisha; great-grandchildren Nicholas Deaver, Morgan Deaver, Alexandra Deaver, Ryan Powers, Connor Powers and Wesley Phipps; and sister-in-law, Mildred Bostick Brinegar.
