Virginia Mae Stratton

August 16, 1916 — March 7, 2005

STRATTON, VIRGINIA Virginia Mae Stratton, 88, of Waco, passed away Monday, March 7, 2005 at her residence. Services will be held at 9:30 am, Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Central Christian Church with Dr. Steve Mansen officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood cemetery. Visitation with the family will from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, March 9, in the garden room at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey. Mrs. Stratton was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and moved to Waco at an early age. She graduated from Waco High School and was employed for 38 years with Amicable Life Insurance Company. She married Golladay Stratton Jr. on January 19, 1940. Together, they were skeet shooting enthusiastics and avid fishing and hunting fans. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1989. Mrs. Stratton was a long time member of Central Christian Church and a member of the Crusader’s Sunday school class and enjoyed church work. She also enjoyed dancing and bridge and belonged to several clubs. Mrs. Stratton was survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the best aunt anyone could ask for, always fun, loving, happy and generous. She will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be David Stratton, Jerry Stratton, Les Stratton Jr., Dr. Cary Stratton, Vic DuPart, Jack Allinson and Kyle Danehy. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Weggeland, Marshall Stewman, Hunt Winton and John Hicks. Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church or to the American Heart Association.
