Virginia Nadine Cook

May 18, 1933 — June 16, 2022

Our Lord called Nadine Cook home Thursday, June 16, 2022. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, June 21, at 9:00 a.m. at Waco Memorial Park. She was a vibrant light in all our lives and will be so greatly missed. She is now free of pain and with the angels to watch over all she loved. Born the youngest of eight to Herbert Monroe Whitehurst and Susan Jane Arthur Whitehurst on May 18, 1933, she was raised with love for Jesus and her fellow man, compassion for all and the strength to do what was needed to get the job done. She was a Waco High School graduate. A very hard worker all her life, she raised her children to be just as strong and taught them the value of a strong work ethic. Nadine had a passion for cooking, sewing, and helping others. When there was something to celebrate, mourn, or just a need of comfort in general, she went to the kitchen and started cooking and baking for those who needed some love. She took care of many throughout her life whether that was cooking, cleaning, sewing a wardrobe to clothe someone, nursing, or just a shoulder to cry on. She married Aquillor Cook, Jr., when she was 19 and they had three children. They built a life together and for several years owned and ran Cook’s Beverly Hills Groc & Market on Memorial Drive in Waco. This was not only a grocery store but they made their own BBQ to sell to their customers. After they closed the store Nadine went to work for American Income Life Ins., where she stayed for 22 years and her wealth of friends grew immensely, before retiring. When she retired, she asked the Lord for one year to enjoy her family before it was her time. The Lord answered by blessing her family for 26 more years of having her here with us. Nadine was preceded in death by both parents, all her siblings, and some nieces and nephews. She is survived by her children, Cathey Anne Cook Daugherty and husband, Robert, Thomas ‘Tommy’ Cook, and Carla Sue Cook Lavy and husband, Michael; three granddaughters, Brandy Pechacek, Jennifer Swiencki, and Courtney Rinehart; seven great-grandchildren, Haille, Ryane, Penellope, Summer, Julian, Van, and Keyanne; and nieces, nephews and many blended family members, along with her very long time friend since fifth grade, Delores ‘Tot’ Brashear. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
